Just Like Heaven

Just like heaven is a romantic comedy movie directed by Mark Waters and adapted from a novel by Marc Levy with the title “If Only It Were True”. The story is surprisingly enjoyable and funny. It relies on the supernatural premise of two people being separated by death before they even meet. The guy was emotionally dead and the girl was physically dead.

The story was about Elizabeth Masterson (roled by Reese Witherspoon), a workaholic ER doctor in San Francisco with no time for a personal life. On the night her sister sets her up on a date with a guy, she gets into a tragic car accident. Weeks later, her stunningly beautiful apartment is sub-let by her family to a garden designer David Abbott (roled by Mark Ruffalo), a heartsick fellow who is still mourning his wife’s sudden death after two years. Unaware of her non-corporeal state of being and what happened to her, Elizabeth’s spirit stumbles upon David and accuses him of breaking into and squatting in her apartment. After several somewhat brief but contentious encounters, David agrees to help her find her identity and find out why he is the only one who can see her.

When finally they both find the identity of Elizabeth, her family is ready to release the medical treatment on her body and let her go for good from her unawake coma. They got troubles to convince Elizabeth’s sister that Elizabeth soul still alive in her coma. This situation forced David to do an extraordinary thing to save Elizabeth from her death. They both also got shocked when David’s friend told them that David was Elizabeth’s date that couldn’t be met before. At the end of the story, David can find a way to wake Elizabeth up from her long time sleep but at the same time she’s wake up, she couldn’t remember anything about David. But once again, love will bring you back…

"I just wanted you to have your garden"

Most of the charm of Just Like Heaven movie comes from seeing Elizabeth revive the brooding and emotionally empty David. Waters has a good eye for comedy and extracts some laughs by showing David talking and reacting to someone that no one else can see and he is crafty enough not to overuse that device.

Lake House

"One man I can never meet. Him, I would like to give my whole heart to."

Lake house is my favorite movie ever! From the scenes, the actors, the story, the dialogue, until the original soundtracks. They all just great!

Lake house is the story about a young doctor named Kate and a young architect named Alex. They live in a different place and time but somehow they can know each other by letters and fall in love so true to one another.

Kate is two years ahead of Alex. In 2006 Kate is leaving a rented lake house and leaves a note in its mailbox for the next tenant. In 2004 Alex comes to live in the lake house and finds the note. Both interact further and are shocked to discover that they are living two years apart. They continue to write each other and decide to meet. Alex makes a reservation at a restaurant two years from his time while only a day away for Kate. Kate arrives but Alex fails to show up. Dishearten, Kate writes back and ask him not to write her again. Two years later Kate discovers that Alex died in a traffic accident on the same day they were promised to meet. Then she runs back to the lake house and writes to Alex and tells him not to come for their date. If only she didn't notice about the lake house picture in the revolutionary vanguard company, Alex and Kate wouldn't be together.

Lake house directed by Alejandro Agresti and produced by Roy Lee, Doug Davison, it casts Keanu Reeves, Sandra Bullock, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Dylan Walsh and Christopher Plummer. The music is given by Rachel Portman and Paul McCartney.

The most famous soundtrack from the lake house are :
